J. H. Phipps and W. J. Reynolds were the president and secretary-treasurer, respectively, of The Phipps-Reynolds Company, a corporation engaged in the sawmilling and timber business. They borrowed money to conduct their operations from the Mcllroy Bank & Trust Company, and on March 3, 1929, were indebted to the bank in the sum of $15,000. On that date an additional credit of $2,000 was requested and granted, making the indebtedness $17,000, which was evidenced by three notes for $5,000 each and one for $2,000.
