The appellant, James Beauford Lamb, Jr., appeals the circuit court’s summary dismissal of his petition for postconviction relief filed pursuant to Rule 32, Ala. R.Crim. P. In 2004, Lamb was convicted of rape in the first degree and sexual abuse in the first degree and was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment on the rape conviction and to 10 years’ imprisonment on the sexual-abuse conviction.1 We affirmed his convictions on August 12, 2005, by an unpublished memorandum, Lamb v.
