Appellant, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (“Wal-Mart”) appeals a verdict in which the jury found that Wal-Mart discriminated against Appellee, Bettie Jo Holland (“Holland”) for instituting a workers’ compensation claim, in violation of Tex.Rev.Civ. Stat. ANN. 8307c (Vernon Supp.1993) (repealed 1993) (current version at Tex. Labor Code Ann. § 451 et seq.). 1 The jury awarded Holland the following: $5,000 for emotional anguish; $250,000 for physical impairment in the future; $1,500,000 in punitive damages; and 1/3 contingency fee ($585,000) for attorney’s fees.
