The trial court adjudged a tax deed to be good and that it extinguished a mortgage lien of the appellants. The appellees had been in possession of the premises under the deed for more than five years. It *773was a compromise tax deed, dated August 29, 1902, and shows on its face that the premises were sold to the county, September 4, 1894, for the taxes of 1893; that on January 8, 1901, the commissioners, by their order of that date, authorized an assignment of the tax-sale certificate “for the taxes of the years 1893, 1894, 1895, 1896, 1897,…
