This action was commenced by Cochran against Ward to recover damages for the breach of a parol lease for lands ■ in the State of Illinois. The complaint alleges, in substance, that the defendant was the owner and in possession of a tract of four hundred acres of farm land situated in Lawrence county, in the State of Illinois, and on the 20th day of April, 1888, said defendant rented said land to the plaintiff for the term of one year, beginning on the 1st day of July, 1888, and agreed to surrender the possession thereof to the plaintiff on that day ; that plaintiff was to yield and pay a…
