Statement of the Case.

MONROE, J.

This is an action upon an agreement of compromise, and arises out of the following circumstances:

S. J. Webb, plaintiff’s brother, invented a cotton press (or some valuable improvement in the method of compressing cotton), and he and another brother, R. D. Webb, who is one of the defendants herein, patented and exploited it, under the firm name of S. J. Webb & Bro., until 1S96, when, with J. Y. Webb, Jr., Thos. Crichton, and J. E. Crichton, they organized the Webb Press Company, Limited,' with a nominal capital of $100,000, divided into shares of $100 each, of…
