Appeal by the defendant from a judgment of the Supreme Court, Kings County (Kramer, J.), rendered March 30, 1989, convicting him of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, after a nonjury trial, and imposing sentence.

Ordered that the judgment is affirmed.

The defendant’s contention that the trial court erred in proceeding with the trial in his absence is without merit. The record reveals that the defendant absconded during a recess on the first day of trial.
