The petitioner, Angel Ochoa, in January, 1998, in the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County, pled guilty to, and was convicted of, child abuse charges, i.e. of violating Md.Code (1957, 1996 Repl.Vol.) Article 27, § 35C, “[clausing abuse to a child,” and Article 27, § 464B, “[t]hird degree sexual offense.” Those crimes are currently codified, without substantive or definitional change, at Md.Code (2002, 2012 Repl.Vol.), § 3-602 of the Criminal Law Article (“CL”),1 and CL § 3-307,2 *330respectively.
