— This action is founded on a claim for advances, made by the plaintiffs, to one Robert S. Nickels, under a guaranty in writing, signed by the defendant and one Alexander Nickels, in substance as follows, viz. In considera*176tion of one dollar the subscribers agree, jointly and severally, to guarantee to the plaintiffs payment for all goods, which may be purchased of them by Robert S.
