This action was brought by the treasurer of the State of Connecticut as trustee for the first mortgage bondholders of the Groton and Stonington Street Railway Company to foreclose a mortgage given to his predecessor in office to secure an issue of bonds in the amount of $375,000, bearing date July 1st, 1904, and maturing July 1st, 1924. The company operated a railway line between Groton and Westerly, Rhode Island, and continued to do so until 1916, when all its property was sold to the Shore Line Electric Railway Company.
