The appellant, Gary L. Young, was convicted in the circuit court of Mercer County of first degree murder after the shooting death of his ex-wife, Pamela Young and was sentenced to life imprisonment without the opportunity for parole. He assigns several grounds as error and asks for a new trial. He objects to certain jury instructions and argues that the lower court erred in admitting into evidence statements made by the deceased before and after the incident.
