On February 2, 1971, the Alabama Gas Corporation (ALAGASCO) filed an application with the Alabama Public Service Commission (Commission) under and pursuant to § 53, Title 48, Code of Alabama 1940, Recompiled 1958, seeking an increase of $5,312,000 per year in its schedule of rates and charges for supplying natural gas to the public. ALAGASCO proposed to make the new schedule of rates and charges as amended effective April 5, 1971.
