The present suit grows out of the unfortunate controversy which, for the last three or four years, has divided the members of the Evangelical Association of North America into two contending factions. George Husser, one of the complainants, and William Schweiker, one of the defendants, are both itinerant preachers of the Evangelical Association, and both claim to have been regularly appointed-by the Illinois Annual Conference to the position of pastor of St. John’s Society, Chicago, one of the congregations belonging to the Association.
