These consolidated appeals arise from a dispute among several groups of attorneys over the entitlement to attorney’s fees awarded in connection with the settlement *1022of a mass tort litigation in the district court, Tolbert v. Monsanto Co.1 It appears that on September 21, 1994, A. Dwight Blair and William Trussell entered into a letter agreement with D.
