In an action to recover damages for personal injuries, the defendants appeal from a judgment of the Supreme Court, Kings County (Dabiri, J.), dated January 5, 2005, which upon a jury verdict, inter alia, awarding the sums of $500,000 for past pain and suffering and $750,000 for future pain and suffering, is in favor of the plaintiff and against them.

Ordered that the judgment is reversed, on the facts and as an exercise of discretion, with costs, and a new trial is granted on the issue of damages for past pain and suffering and future pain and suffering only, unless within 30 days after…
