When the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company (“Schlitz”) closed its Milwaukee, Wisconsin plant in 1981, it reached agreements with its retired workers to provide, among other things, health care benefits, including a prescription drug program. Schlitz was later bought by Stroh Brewing Company (“Stroh”), which in turn was bought, in 1995, by Pabst.
