In the spring and summer of 1882, appellees undertook to run what is known as a “corner” in No. 2 red winter wheat, in the St. Louis market, and for that purpose, and to aid them in bringing about that result, employed appellants and eight or nine other brokers of the city of St. Louis, and through these agencies secured contracts for the sale of large quantities of wheat, to be delivered on or before the last day of June, 1882, and aggregating about 1,100,000 bushels.
