MEMORANDUM OPINION

SLEET, District Judge.

I. INTRODUCTION.

On September 3, 1997, Bonnie Mendel-son, the plaintiff in this diversity action, filed a complaint against the Delaware River and Bay Authority, alleging that she injured her right hand, arm, and shoulder when she tried to open a hydraulic or pneumatic sliding door located on a ferry boat, the Twin Capes, operated by the Authority (or the “DRBA”). Because the parties are diverse and the amount in controversy exceeds $75,000, the court may properly exercise jurisdiction over this matter. See 28 U.S.C. § 1332 (1994).
