John Sellner appeals from a judgment entered on a jury verdict awarding sub*379stantial compensatory and punitive damages against him and in favor of plaintiffs George Hudnall, Carol Hudnall, and James Panagoulis in these consolidated diversity actions for defamation, loss of consortium, and malicious prosecution. Sellner, by court-appointed counsel, argues that the judgment should be set aside or a new trial granted on a number of grounds, principally, his mental incompetence at the time of the conduct for which he was found liable, his mental incompetence…
