PONDER, Justice.

This is an appeal from a conviction of the crime of forgery and the sentence thereunder.

The defendant, Alex Jacobs, was. charged in a bill of information with-forging a check for $20. The check was; given by the defendant to the Nicholls. Dry Goods Company at Natchitoches, Louisiana, in payment of approximately $15; worth of merchandise which the defendant had purchased from the Dry Goods-Company. The defendant received the-balance of approximately $5 in cash. Upon trial of the charge the jury returned the following verdict, viz.: “We the jury find the defendant guilty as…
