A jury found defendant, Daniel Blalock, Sr., guilty of six counts of first-degree murder under section 9 — 1 of the Criminal Code of 1961 (Code) (111. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 38, pars. 9—1(a)(1), (a)(2), (a)(3)) and two counts of armed violence under section 33A — 2 of the Code (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 38, par. 33A—2). Defendant was sentenced to a term of natural-life imprisonment.
