EDWARDS, Circuit Judge.

This appeal is from convictions after jury trial in the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee for violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1702 (1964). This statute prohibits taking material from the United States mails with intent to obstruct delivery of it to the addressee.

No appellate issue is presented as to the sufficiency of the evidence to support the convictions on this charge. But we have examined the entire transcript and the original exhibits in this case. We note that the Social Security check made out to Marie C. Austin was found in its…
