SULLIVAN, Judge:

On October 17, 1988, appellant was tried by a military judge sitting alone as a general-court martial at Ramstein Air Base, Federal Republic of Germany. Contrary to his pleas, he was convicted of three specifications of distributing marijuana and one specification of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute, in violation of Article 112a, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC § 912a. He was sentenced to a bad-conduct discharge, confinement and forfeiture of $400.00 pay per month for 6 months, and reduction to pay grade E-l. The convening authority…
