SPRECHER, Circuit Judge.
The questions before us are whether Illinois law allows a court to instruct a jury to award prejudgment interest in an action *635under the Illinois Wrongful Death Act, Ill. Rev.Stat. ch. 70, §§ 1, 2, and whether the award of $27,500 given here, supposedly representing prejudgment interest, can be interpreted as being part of the “fair and just compensation” for plaintiff’s pecuniary injuries.
