CHRISTIE, Justice:

This case involves an appeal from a conviction in the Superior Court, Kent County, of murder first degree and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.

The defendant, Robert Van Arsdall, was accused of murdering Doris Epps in a friend’s apartment, shortly after the conclusion of an all day New Year’s Eve party on December 31, 1981.
