A jury found the defendant, Scott Salamon, guilty of one count each of the crimes of kidnapping in the second degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-94/ unlawful restraint in the first degree *513in violation of General Statutes § 53a-95,2 and risk of injury to a child in violation of General Statutes (Rev. to 2001) § 53-21 (a) (1).3 The trial court rendered judgment in accordance with the jury verdict,4 and the defendant appealed.5 On appeal, the defendant raises several claims.
