The plaintiff below, Cornelia Berkhout, brings this action to recover the sum of $3,000, which she claims is due to her as the beneficiary named in a certificate of insurance issued by the defendant upon the life' of one Jacobus Berkhout, deceased, who, at the time of the issuing of the certificate, was a member of the defendant society.
