RIPPLE, Circuit Judge.
Petitioner Clyde Williams was convicted in the state courts of Wisconsin of three counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child. Following an unsuccessful motion for a new trial, he appealed his conviction to the Court of Appeals of Wisconsin. That court denied relief. See State v. Williams, 270 Wis.2d 761, 677 N.W.2d 691 (2004), review denied, 679 N.W.2d 546 (Wis.2004). He then filed a petition for habeas corpus in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. See 28 U.S.C. § 2254.
