After a joint jury trial, the defendant Corey Turner was convicted of murder in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54a,1 and first degree assault in violation of General Statutes § 53a-59,2 and the defen*717dant Charles Turner, Corey Turner’s brother, was convicted of being an accessory to those same crimes in violation of General Statutes § 53a-8.3 The trial court rendered judgment in each case in accordance with the verdict, and each defendant appealed from that judgment to the Appellate Court.
