Plaintiffs New Line Cinema and New Line Productions (collectively “New Line”) filed this copyright and trademark action in September 1994. After understandable delaying events, I presided over a two-day bench trial in April 2001. New Line claims that defendant Russ Berrie & Company’s sale, essentially in 1993, of the “Ghostly Gasher,” a toy glove with protruding knife-like plastic blades, infringed and diluted New Line’s intellectual property rights originating from the “Nightmare on Elm Street” series of motion pictures, specifically a glove worn by Freddy…
