BANKE, J.

The Dental Board of California (Board) revoked Dr. Errol M. Gillis’s license to practice dentistry after a mishandled root canal procedure and repeated failure to respond to the patient’s complaints of postprocedure complications. Gillis petitioned the superior court for issuance of a writ of administrative mandamus directing the Board to set aside its decision. The superior court granted the writ on the basis of numerous perceived legal errors and remanded the matter to the Board.
