LIPEZ, Circuit Judge.

Yamil Matos-Quiñones and Jorge Alberto Ortiz-Feliciano each pled guilty to one count of carjacking with intent to cause death or serious bodily harm, resulting in death. 18 U.S.C. § 2119(3). The victim was a sailor in the United States Navy, stationed in Puerto Rico. The district court sentenced both defendants to life imprisonment. The defendants now claim that the district court misunderstood and failed to explain the intent element of § 2119(3).
