The defendant was convicted by a Superior Court jury of two counts of armed robbery (G. L. c. 265, § 17), two counts of kidnapping (G. L. c. 265, § 26), one count of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon (G. L. c. 265, § 15A[6]), and one count of assault by means of a dangerous weapon (G. L. c. 265, § 15B[ƅ]).1 His alleged accomplice in the crimes, Laguneng Gates, testified against him at trial. The two victims, Eryn Johnson and Sunil Gandhi, also testified for the Commonwealth.
