Appellant was tried by a special court-martial composed of a military judge sitting alone at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., on September 24, 1996. Pursuant to a pretrial agreement, he pleaded guilty to introduction, distribution, and use of a small amount 1 of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), in violation of Article 112a, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC § 912a. He was found guilty and sentenced to a bad-conduct discharge, confinement for 90 days, forfeiture of $583 per month for 3 months, and reduction to E-l. On…
