The defendant was convicted of four charges, including possession of cocaine with intent to distribute (possession with intent) in violation of G. L. c. 94C, § 32A(c), and trafficking in fourteen to twenty-eight grams of cocaine in violation of G. L. c. 94C, § 32E(£>)(1).1 The Commonwealth proved that *904the possession with intent conviction was for a second or subsequent offense, subjecting the defendant to the sentencing enhancement described in G.
