The complaint in this case was filed on July 31,1947 and consisted of two counts. The first count alleged that on April 1, 1947, the plaintiff was unmarried and on that day she promised to marry the defendant on or before May 14, 1947. It was then alleged that the defendant, at the same time, promised the plaintiff to marry her on or before May 14, 1947, or at such other time as she might request. It is then averred that the plaintiff relying upon said promise, left her home in St. Joseph, Missouri and came with the defendant to Dixon, Illinois and charged that on the 14th day of May 1947,…
