The defendant was convicted of carrying on the business or avocation of an agent for life insurance within the limits of the city of Trenton, without having a license therefor, as required by an ordinance of that city. He was convicted in the trial court and a fine of ten dollars imposed.
His claim in defense is that he was an agent for the “National Annuity Association of Kansas City, Missouri,” and that such association is organized under article 11, chapter 12 of the Statutes of Missouri for 1899, providing for the organization of “Fraternal Beneficial Associations;” that as such, it was…
