This is a petition by the plaintiff, as a stockholder of the Union Banlc, for a mandamus to compel the officers thereof to allow him the right of inspecting the “ discount book ” of the bank, within proper and reasonable hours, which right had been denied him on due demand.

Petitioner alleges, that he is a citizen of the State and the owner of one hundred and ten shares of the capital stock of the bank, which is established under the Free Banking laws of this State; that for purposes “ material to the interests of himself and other stockholders, and also the interests of said banking company,…
