The Alexanders, who are the plaintiffs and respondents, desired to build a house on a lot owned by them in Berkeley. Hammarberg, the defendant and appellant, who is an architect; was employed by the Alexanders to draw plans and specifications for the proposed house, and later employed to supervise its construction. Rahlves and Rahlves, building contractors, hereafter referred to as Rahlves, contracted with the Alexanders to construct the house according to the plans and specifications prepared by Hammarberg.
