“When we benchmarked search providers for our agentic workflows at Revolut, Exa was on top for the queries that actually matter in production.”

The Challenge

Explaining why a stock moved

When a stock moves 8% in a day, Revolut's users want to know why. The relevant signal could be breaking news, a regulatory filing, a central bank statement, or an analyst note that got traction. Being able to surface the right context reliably and at scale is imperative for informing investors to make smart financial moves.

Why Exa

On top for multi-hop retrieval, semantic context, and recency

Revolut benchmarked several search API providers before partnering with Exa. The criteria included multi-hop retrieval, semantic context, and recency. Exa came out on top in all three categories. The differentiation was most visible in multi-hop retrieval, where understanding the meaning behind why a security moved means connecting a macro announcement to a sector reaction and then to a company-specific response.

The Solution

Exa inside Revolut's securities monitoring agent

Revolut has built Exa into its agentic workflow for securities monitoring. When one moves, a query is sent to Exa to search for news and analysis explaining the movement. That news is then surfaced directly via both a push notification and in the Revolut app, so users can read the story behind the number without leaving the platform.
