A Discussion on the Times Characteristic of Liu Chang’s Research on the Study of the Spring and Autumn Annals

As an important representative in the era when Song Xue(宋学) come into being, Liu Chang(刘敞) was one of the members of the new school on the Study of the Spring and Autumn Annals(新《春秋》学) initiated by Dan(啖助), Zhao(赵匡) and Lu(陆淳). His research had vivid characteristics of his times, i.e., doubting about the Confucian classics, interpreting the Confucian classics based on argumentation, integrating Academic Study with Practical Application(经世致用)and so on.
