The purpose of this study was to compare the translucency and color change of laminate ceramic veneers on different thicknesses before and after glazing.Square-shaped specimens that were 0.3 mm, 0.6 mm and 0.9 mm thick, respectively, were fabricated with the Styleveneers (n=30).The color coordinates (CIE L* a* b*) of the specimens were measured before and after glazing with a colorimeter. For a comparison between the 'not glazed' and 'glazed' groups and among the thicknesses, data were analyzed with a paired T-test, oneway ANOVA test and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 18.0 (p=0.05).The translucency parameter (TP) of the 0.3 mm-and 0.6 mm-thick specimens showed statistically significant differences before and after the glazing process. The one-way ANOVA of color difference (∆E*) and change of color coordinate (ΔL*, Δa*, Δb*) were statistically different among samples of different thicknesses. The result of the multiple regression analysis showed that ∆b*, ∆L* improve ∆E*.Within the limitations of this study, we conclude that the glazing step changes the translucency of 0.3 mm-and 0.6 mm-thick specimens and the color of lithium disilicate laminate ceramic veneers.
