Abstract

This record contains the English-language companion teaching materials for the elementary school, middle school and high school volumes (PMH) of the Tsinghua AIGE Series. Designed for classroom implementation, the package supports teachers, school leaders, curriculum developers, nonprofit educational organizations and local adaptation teams in establishing and delivering K–12 artificial intelligence general education. The package includes three principal types of resources: PPT slides, teaching plans and student handouts. The slides provide the visual structure, content sequence and activity prompts for each lesson. The teaching plans specify learning objectives, instructional procedures, classroom activities and guiding questions. The student handouts help learners record ideas, participate in discussions, complete exercises and extend their learning. Together, these materials provide a connected support system spanning teacher preparation, classroom instruction and student learning. The curriculum follows a staged progression from stories and activities to structured knowledge and deeper exploration. At the elementary level, students encounter artificial intelligence through stories, images, historical episodes, familiar applications and hands-on activities. At the middle school level, these experiences are organized into a connected understanding of core concepts, typical tasks, technical methods, application contexts and social issues. At the high school level, students investigate AI principles, frontier technologies, complex systems, ethical risks, social consequences and future development. Each elementary-school lesson is accompanied by two versions of the slides. L1 is the basic classroom version, with more visual material and less text, designed for direct teaching, discussion and student activities. L2 provides richer explanations and background information for teacher self-study, lesson preparation, curriculum adaptation, localization and professional development. This two-level design keeps classroom materials accessible to younger students while providing teachers with sufficient conceptual depth and flexibility. These resources form part of the Tsinghua Artificial Intelligence General Education system, or AIGE, a comprehensive educational framework connecting primary, secondary and higher education. The system has been jointly developed by Tsinghua University’s Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University Press, Tsinghua University High School, Tsinghua University Primary School and collaborating partners. It combines academic leadership from universities, knowledge-structure planning by AI scholars, curriculum design by education specialists and continuing refinement by frontline teachers. AIGE treats artificial intelligence as an important field of general learning in the intelligent era. Its educational goals extend from foundational AI knowledge to the ways of thinking, perspectives and capacities students need to understand artificial intelligence, evaluate its social consequences and participate responsibly in an increasingly intelligent society. The framework has been developed through textbooks, courses, teaching slides, student guides, teacher education and classroom pilots. Related resources have been used through national and regional smart education platforms in China, more than 300 pilot schools and a network of over 200 certified instructors. The collection offers an integrated combination of full K–12 curriculum coverage, alignment with a complete textbook series, classroom-ready slides, teaching plans and student handouts, and support for international adaptation. It can help schools establish new AI general education programs, strengthen existing curricula and support teacher education and public-interest educational initiatives in regions with limited access to systematic AI learning resources. The full package includes two parts: PART 1: PPT Slides and PART2: Teaching Plans and Student Handouts. This record is PART1.
