Abstract
Abstract In this chapter, the authors discuss the impact of the C3 Framework since its release in 2013 on the field of social studies education. The authors also highlight areas of the C3 Framework that need to be focused on through scholarship in more depth. These areas include civic thinking, economic thinking, geographic thinking, and interdisciplinary social studies thinking. The authors define these terms and give key components for each. The authors also articulate the purpose for this edited volume is to help fill this gap with scholarship in social studies education connected to these parts of the C3 Framework. Finally, the chapter closes by giving a brief overview of the structure and organization with this edited book.
