Hello and welcome to Locked on Red Sox, your daily Boston Red Sox podcast. I'm your host, Gabby Maljanian. Today's episode is brought to you by FanDuel. Get $350 in bonus bets guaranteed when you bet $5 every day for seven days. Join all of the action at FanDuel.com. Yesterday, you heard a good portion of my interview with Alana Rizzo, who's worked for MLB Network, currently does the alt casts on Nesson during Red Sox games. And I just covered numerous MLB teams throughout her career. So tune in and you're going to hear part two of that conversation. This is a fun team overall. And Roman Anthony being back in that leadoff spot is huge. That's an area the Red Sox have struggled in overall this season. And being able to bring Roman back into the fold to hit in that spot has also provided a big boost. And I love Roman and just the excitement level surrounding him is warranted because he's I don't truly believe that we're even close to seeing his full potential yet. And that's, what's really exciting about it is if he can stay healthy. I think there's a lot he can provide. And I just love having him in that lead off spot. Cause it gives you a sense of consistency there. And that's definitely something that, Has been a challenge for sure. I would say overall this year was all the roster reshuffling guys hitting in different spots and trying to navigate all this maneuvering with the injuries and everything else and trying to figure out what lineup works. And as guys are starting to get healthy now, we can establish some consistency like, okay, you know, Roman's consistently going to be hitting leadoff. And then when Wilson Contreras comes back, we know that Willier and him are going to be in the three and four spots because that's worked so well all season. And, you know, I think we're going to start to see, hopefully, a lot more consistency in that
Episode notes
The Boston Red Sox surge back into postseason contention as Roman Anthony returns to the leadoff spot, igniting a newfound lineup consistency. Can Boston’s mix of veteran leaders like Sonny Gray, Willson Contreras, and Trevor Story guide emerging stars such as Payton Tolle and Jake Bennett through the pressure-packed playoff chase? Alanna Rizzo and Gabby Maljanian reflect on the unpredictable nature of October baseball and the high stakes facing the Red Sox as the race tightens.
Key topics include starting rotation challenges, bullpen reliability featuring Aroldis Chapman and Garrett Whitlock, and the impact of lineup health on Boston’s playoff push. The episode also compares AL and NL contenders, examines how recent Fenway atmospheres echo October intensity, and questions whether the Red Sox can maintain their resilience and focus against rivals like the Yankees and Rays. Will this no-quit group turn a turbulent season into a deep playoff run?
