Hello, and welcome to Locked On Red Sox, your daily Boston Red Sox podcast. I'm your host Gaby Maljanian, and today's episode is brought to you by GameTime. Download the GameTime app, create an account, and use code LOCKEDON for $20 off your first purchase. Happy Wednesday. Welcome to the show. Lots to talk about because I haven't gotten a chance yet to talk about the Red Sox four-game sweep of the Orioles over the weekend. Gonna be talking about my biggest takeaways from that series. Could Tanner Houk actually be coming back for the Boston Red Sox? And Aroldis Chapman making more history over the weekend. Now, Chapman has been so dominant for the Boston Red Sox. But he made history over the weekend in the series finale against the Orioles when he became the ninth pitcher in the 400 saves club ever. He threw a 101 mile per hour heater to strike out Christian Encarnación Strands to
Episode notes
The Boston Red Sox ignite playoff hopes with Aroldis Chapman’s historic 400th save—could he enter Cooperstown as a Red Sox? Gabby Maljanian weighs Chapman’s Hall of Fame case, reflecting on his dominant stretch in Boston and exploring what it would take for him to be immortalized in a Red Sox cap. The debate intensifies as Chapman joins the exclusive 400-saves club, outpacing legends and setting the stage for an electrifying postseason narrative.
Tanner Houck’s unexpected rehab progress raises questions about the bullpen’s October arsenal. Gabby breaks down Houck’s impact as a potential high-leverage weapon, the tough choices Boston faces with its relief corps, and key takeaways from the team’s four-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles, including strong performances by Adley Rutschman and Ranger Suárez. Can the Red Sox sustain this momentum and rewrite October expectations?
