[background chatter] Good morning. It is [microphone feedback] Monday, the twenty-eighth of September. We are here on case number, um, twenty-six CR eighty-eight, State of Ohio versus Caleb C. Flynn. Sir, that, is that you?
Yes, Your Honor.
All right. The staff comes on for our eighth day of trial. Um, we are continuing with the testimony of Detective Sergeant Mike Morgan. Um, I believe we are have some video, another video to show. Is that correct, Mr. Watkins?
That's correct, Your Honor.
Okay. Um, we've had some technical difficulties with volume on that, so I think we've made some arrangements, uh, to, uh, enhance that. But I would ask that all those that are in the gallery keep shuffling papers and movement, um, to a minimum so that the jurors can properly hear, uh, how that tape unfolds.
Thank you.
All right. Any other matters we need to discuss before we bring in the jury?
No, I don't believe so. Thank you.
Thank you. Ms. Osnorf, please bring in the jury.
Yes.
[chair scraping] Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, please have a seat. Welcome back. [microphone feedback] I'll let you take a minute to get situated. Please make sure everybody's phones are turned off completely. [papers rustling] We ended the day on Friday, uh, in the midst of the testimony of Detective Sergeant Mike Morgan. And, uh, detective, I remind you, you're still under oath. Uh, we're gonna continue with the state's case in chief. Uh, Mr. Watkins, if you'd like to further inquire with this witness.
Thank you, Your Honor. May I approach?
You may. Thank you.
Detective Morgan, I'm now showing you what's been previously marked for identification purposes as State's Exhibit two hundred ninety-six. Do you recognize this flash drive?
Yes, I do.
What do you recognize it to be?
The third interview with Caleb Flynn.
An interview with you and Chief Deputy Steve Lord?
Yes.
Your Honor, permission to publish?
Go ahead. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, we're trying to enhance the sound to make it a little, um, [microphone feedback] better for you to hear. If there is an issue, to just raise your hand and let us know.
[whispering]
Detective, what did you ask the defendant to do here?
I wanted him to draw [audio cuts out] early on.
To walk us through, you know, the timeline of where, where you were at. Um, you know, once you get it drawn, we'll, we'll walk through the timeline of what we discussed the other day. I think the other thing that's, uh, very helpful is, like, you got... You brought up seeing [audio cuts out]. I'm not clear, so I'll just ask it. I don't know if it... Did you see anybody?
No.
Okay. So at this point you'd be guessing, you know, as well as, like, me about all the points. So, okay. So that, that's really not gonna happen. Put on there like the worst that's brought to bear. Like, just, I mean, even if you just... You know what I'm saying? Like, the, the doorway to the garage, like wherever. Like, you've got how many doors open to your garage for me? Okay. Match the time that, where you're telling me this, this... And then from there.
Ashley. So that's where I actually sat, here. Right in here.
So about that.
