GM
Gordon Miller1:21

Oh, I love it. So, so many ICA members are already working with Green Circle, and today we are going to go beyond the basics. We're gonna tr- try to dig a little bit deep. We're gonna explore how Sarah has become personally connected to the mission, I love this, um, what really happens to the waste that they collect, and why sustainability can be good for business. Um, and also dig a, a little bit into the future of what sustainability and th- this way bigger topic, um, mean for our industry. Sarah, welcome to The Connector podcast.

SB
Sarah Babington2:03

I'm, uh, based just outside of Toronto, Ontario.

GM
Gordon Miller2:06

Love that, one of my favorite cities. Um, I, um, have to say, I was so impressed with you on stage. You did Freddie Mercury.

SB
Sarah Babington2:16

I did do Freddie Mercury.

GM
Gordon Miller2:18

It was very impressive.

SB
Sarah Babington2:18

They gave me a 3:00 PM time slot. I had to, I had to bring the energy. [laughs] I had to bring it.

GM
Gordon Miller2:23

You brought the energy, and everybody loved it. Um, uh, I- I know you guys are coming to the fall atelier. Before we jump, jump into our topic, you are not gonna be bringing Freddie Mercury to, to the event. You're gonna be bringing your founder.

SB
Sarah Babington2:35

Yeah, we're bringing Shane Price. I think, I think he'll, uh, you know, he does well on stage. I think, I think he'll impress. He might not bring Freddie, but he's great.

GM
Gordon Miller2:44

We're, we're, we're excited to have him. And, and, um, and again, we're so excited to see you on stage at the Spring Gathering. All right, so before we dig into Green Circle, let's talk about you a little bit. Um, how did you get here? And, and importantly, how did you become personally involved with this really important topic of sustainability?

SB
Sarah Babington3:05

I mean, and this was a long journey

2Episode notes

What really happens to all the hair, foils and unused color salons throw away? Sarah Babington of Green Circle Salons joins Gordon for an eye-opening look at where salon waste goes and what it can become. They explore how smarter waste practices can strengthen culture, attract talent, build client loyalty and even reduce costs. Sustainability is good for the planet, but it can also be very good business.
