[upbeat music] Welcome to the Jazz Notes podcast. I'm Ben Anderson.
I'm Chandler Holtz.
We are recording this on July 20th. I, uh, said January 20th on my first try.
[chuckles]
Um, it has been a little absent since, uh, I have been here. Uh, when did we last record? I think it was the day that Walker Kessler got traded that I jumped on?
Yes.
Um, so I will give you a quick update on why I have been missing, um, and then we will get into the news and notes. The Jazz have made some additions to the roster, no subtractions other than Walker getting traded.
Mm-hmm.
But we talked about that already, and the Summer League has come and gone. Uh, so quick story time if you weren't paying attention or if you don't listen to my other show, totally fine, or f- don't see me on Facebook or Instagram or whatever. Um, the Fourth of July, I was getting ready to go to the Jazz's first Summer League game at Huntsman Center, and my wife's battery in her car had died, and so she had to take my car, and so I was gonna take the bus, and I just noticed it's a little hard to get out the door, and I was like, "Ah, well, I'm taking the bus. I'm going to Huntsman Center. I never cover games there." Whatever. Something's just weird, but I like was literally walking into doorways. I was like, couldn't see things on the left side of my body, and thought, "I'm just, must, must be trying to rush and get out the door, Summer League anxiety," whatever. Cover the game, you and I do a little post-game reaction.
Mm-hmm.
I thought everything went totally fine.
Yeah.
Sunday morning, we're going to a movie. I'm making a sandwich. I have a little grill in the back of my house, like a little flat top grill, and I couldn't, after I toasted the bread, figure out how to put the sandwich together. I couldn't figure out which side of the bread went where with the turkey. It's like three pieces, you know?
Yeah.
Two pieces of bread and a piece of turkey with cheese melted on it, and like I put mayonnaise on it, and then I put it in my hand with the mayonnaise down, and I thought, "Well, there's mayonnaise all over my hand now, so something's wrong, and I can't figure it out." So I said, "Let's still go to the movie." I'll have my wife drive. I was like, "I'm just a little confused." Go to the movie, I'm sitting inside for about 20 minutes, and I turned to her and I said, "Let's go to the hospital. I don't, I don't know what's wrong. I don't know why things feel off." So, and by the way, everything's fine, but long story short, I get in, I go into the emergency room. They're doing neurological tests. I don't know what year it is, and I know who the president is.
[laughs]
But I didn't know what year it was. Well, I said 20- 2006. Um, and they say, "Okay,
