Grainger knows if you're a procurement manager at an industrial manufacturing facility, you're balancing inventory and budget while sourcing critical supplies across the operation. Too

much inventory?

Costs climb. Too little? Production slows. Grainger's $2 billion in on-hand inventory helps you get what you need when you need it, so you can help keep budgets balanced and lines moving. Call 1-800-GRAINGER, clickgrainger.com, or just stop by. Grainger, for the ones who get it done.

Welcome to the Jazz Notes podcast. I'm Ben Anderson. I'm Chandler Holt. We are recording this on September 29th. That means Utah Jazz Media Day was yesterday and we are less than a week away from their first preseason game. There is not a lot of news and notes today other than everything that happened at

CH
Chandler Holt0:53

Media Day yesterday. So we will touch on some of that, but it will be mailbag heavy because I think a

lot of people ask questions that obviously fell in line with the mailbag.

CH
Chandler Holt1:00

Yeah. Do you just want to go right into mailbag today or do you want to talk a little bit first

BA
Ben Anderson1:04

about what we saw? What were your early impressions? What did jump out to you? And again, I know we have some questions about that, but what specifically jumped out to you from yesterday?

CH

It was cool that Austin Ainge started with opening remarks. The first thing he said was sort of addressing jazz fans. Like, I'm paraphrasing here, but it was basically like, thank you for sticking with us. You guys have been awesome. It's time to run. And then he went through the entire roster. We have a question about this later, but Bryce Ansabaugh is the interview I keep coming back to as the most impressive, my favorite interview of the day yesterday, probably. And also Austin Ainge, both on the KSL SportsZone yesterday morning and also in his opening remarks, had some glowing reviews of Bryce in his summer. But also it was just... Whole lot of Darren Peterson talk. And that was probably to some fault of the media. I think probably 12 of the 15 people who hit the stand were asked a question about Darren Peterson. But those are the things that stick out to me.

BA
Ben Anderson1:56

And yeah, we get asked about the Darren thing specifically, so maybe I'll hold off a little bit on it. Man, I just, one of the things, my takeaway is the Jazz have so many answers now for problems that they didn't have last year. You have Darren, A should be a year better. We know Keontae's good. Jaren is here. Like, you've actually got a pretty deep rotation of centers, even though we don't know if like you have a real top end center, though I'm a little bit optimistic about Nurk and like what he can do. My honest question is, do the Jazz know what questions to ask? They've got all the answers. Do they know what question to ask to get there? And then, do we even know what their goals are this year? Is it to maximize wins? Because you can maximize wins by playing Josh Akogi and Sfima Kaluk a lot. Or you can maximize the development of Darren Peterson by playing Darren a lot. But I honestly don't think Darren's going to help you win as many games today as Josh Akogi will. Because he just knows how to play so much basketball. He's done it so much. Like, that's what
